International and Turkish case law strictly prohibit ill-treatment and torture. However, the details reported by those who have been tortured show the severity of the disconnect between theory and reality. The victims’ accounts were highly detailed and could run to several hundred pages. ASSEDEL Research submitted the report on ill-treatment and torture in order to inform the CPT Turkey group about the torture and ill-treatment that have continued systematically in Turkey since 2016.
